“Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.”~ Matthew 6:9-13”
My favorite times of the day are waking up in the morning and just before going to sleep. Every day is like a new gift and every evening I get to reflect on the day that just passed and spend time here, in the Quiet Place with GOD. But best of all my days, the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing I do at night is pray.
Have you ever heard the hymn “Sweet hour of Prayer”? It’s a lovely song and you can find out more about its history here. Although the true author of the poem is unclear the message they shared in the lyrics lives on forever. How privileged are we that we can spend time with GOD in prayer? That the Creator of the universe would take time to listen to our thoughts, our worries and hopes? Although we can spend any time of the day in prayer,I like how we can devote specific times of our days just to spend time with GOD. Those times are like shining lights that brighten up our daily experiences and strengthen us spiritually.
I hope dear Reader if GOD calls you to spend time with Him, you heed his invitation. Taking time to pray is the best use of our time and the sweetest and best part of the day!
~God bless, Mary
“Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!”
