Tell me, what’s your purpose?

Do you know what drives you to get up every morning? For a long time, I thought my reason was my career. My identity was wrapped up in my job and I felt, my purpose was found in my resume.

This changed a few years ago when someone asked me an interesting question. “What would you want written on your gravestone?” By way of context, the conversation was around finding who we were and our purpose in life.

My answer came straight from my heart and I did not hesitate – “to be a good daughter and sister. A true child of GOD”. Their answer was — “that’s who you are, that’s your purpose”. It was a pivotal moment for me. I realised that what truly matters and what drives me to get up every morning is service to GOD and others.

It’s interesting that the question led to the answer which Jesus already gave us. In Mark 12:30-31 He told our purpose when he taught us the two commandments that encompassed the whole ten – “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”

Truly, our life’s purpose and fulfillment can only be found in living for the LORD and our brethren. I hope dear Reader if you are questioning what your purpose may be, you find it in GOD. The blueprint is already in the Bible. There is no mystery, and I bet your heart will easily tell you what your purpose is.

Much love and God bless ~ M
