Weary, overlooked, and indescribably blessed.

Christmas is almost here and for most people this is a joyous time with loved ones. We celebrate the birth of Jesus together, share gifts and make memories with people we love and who love us back.

But what of those of us who may be unloved or overlooked by others? It may be that you had a relationship breakdown or you are forgotten or neglected by people, maybe even by the ones whom you love the most.

During Christmas, I think about Jacob’s first wife Leah. Her father Laban fooled Jacob into marrying her when he loved her sister Rachel instead. She was unloved, overlooked and neglected. She bore a quiet pain with dignity and resilience. Rejected by her husband, she learned that her true worth and fulfillment was found in GOD alone. Although she initially sought Jacob’s mandate, she learned to praise GOD and seek His approval instead. And GOD blessed her abundantly.

Leah is the matriarch of six of the twelve tribes Israel, including Judah. From her son Judah descended King David, the man after GOD’s own heart, and of course our savior Jesus Christ the Messiah. Although some people may have been blind to Leah’s pain, GOD never was and he blessed her in the most amazing way.

If you feel lonely, or overlooked this season, reach out to Jesus and pray. In HIM you’ll find fulfillment. Seek Him and delight yourself in GOD, and soon you’ll find a true, deep joy as you celebrate the true reason for Christmas.

God bless you!
