Why do you love GOD?

In 1 John 4:19 it says “we love GOD because He loved us first”. The truth is we know GOD because He chose us. He called us to learn to know Him. And as we learn to know Him, we cannot help but love Him for who He is. He willingly suffered on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins and is constantly advocating on our behalf. He cares more for us than anyone else could.

God, who is love, taught us how to love. The evidence of our love for Him is in how we trust and obey Him. In John 14:15, Jesus says “If you love Me you will keep my commandments.”

And what does the LORD command? “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.’” – Matthew 22:36-37. And in Matthew 22:39, Jesus says “And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

May you always love GOD for who He is and show that Him you love Him by obeying His commands. “Loving God means keeping his commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.” 1 John 5:3
