Do you want to live and enjoy a long life? Then don’t say cruel things and don’t tell lies Do good instead of evil and try to live at peace ~ Psalm 34:12-14 CEV

Have you ever thought about the power of words? Using words God made heaven and earth. With words we bless people and it is with words we curse. Sometimes we go through times of extreme frustration or have reached the end of our patience that we just want to vent out our feelings. We can inadvertently say cruel things that we wish we could take back. I remember when I was in my late teens arguing with my mother about something. I’ve forgotten what we argued about but never can I forget the result of careless words I said to her. My poor mother cried. I was heartbroken. No amount of “I’m sorry” could make the hurt go away from her eyes. I learned on that day the value of silence. I learned to walk away when I feel the need to vent, until the feeling passes then take it to God later on in prayer.
When you feel tempted to say something unkind, even in the heat of the moment, or maybe to vent out feelings even if they may be justified ….don’t say it. Remember the immense power of words. They can either bless people or break them. Walk away. Take your feelings to God and pray for Him to dissipate your anger and guide you. He will give you peace.
God bless you
