Have you ever heard of the saying “Home is where Mom is”? I remember reading that a few years ago and thought about my own mother and realized how fitting a saying it was. Women, mothers, bring a unique contribution to the home. They can bring a godly, calm and uniting spirit within it.

Proverbs 14:1 says “the wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” I think women in particular are given a special charge over building up her household. Whether in the role of mother, wife, daughter or sister we contribute greatly (as do men!) to the creation of a well-run and God-fearing home-environment.

Encouraging our family, building up their confidence and providing a safe place for them, is an enormous contribution and service to the ones we love the most.

As you go about your duties, particularly the women, I hope you acknowledge your role. May we remain committed to uplifting, protecting and caring for others, particularly our families. In doing so we can serve our LORD by helping to build strong, godly homes.
