Matters of the Heart

Have you ever noticed how people who tend to tear others down are generally unhappy? Their actions are unkind because their hearts are dispirited or have grown cold through experience. People whose hearts are genuinely kind invariably tends to bring up and encourage others. Sometimes we may be on the receiving end of other people’s unkindness. We can try to amend the situation by recognising the behaviour and responding with gentle reproof and Christian love. However, we sometimes we need to not continue to spend time with them or allow them access into our life. It’s not that we reject the person concerned but its important we draw sound boundaries in our life.

In 1 Corinthians 15:33 GOD warns us that bad company corrupts people. And in Samuel 16:7, we are told that, though “man looks on the outward appearance..the LORD looks on the heart”.

It’s important that we guard our hearts at all times and not let the bitterness of others take root in our lives. We have to impact the person whose behaviour needs to change rather than letting their behaviour influence us. Sometimes that means keeping an emotional and/or physical distance.

I hope, dear Reader, your heart remains warm and sympathetic. May you always impact others for good!

God bless. ~M
